{"id":930337,"date":"2026-10-11T15:25:28","date_gmt":"2026-10-11T15:25:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cfm52.mofa.gov.iq\/?p=930337"},"modified":"2026-10-12T14:15:54","modified_gmt":"2026-10-12T14:15:54","slug":"press-statement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cfm52.mofa.gov.iq\/?p=930337&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Press Statement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Baghdad will host the 52nd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on 17\u201318 October 2026, under the theme \u201cDialogue and Solidarity: Two Essential Pillars for Promoting Peace and Sustainable Development.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Iraq is preparing to receive the participating official delegations following the completion by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the relevant authorities, of the necessary technical and logistical preparations for the meetings which will address a number of issues and topics of common interest to the Member States, foremost among them the Palestinian cause and developments in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the political, economic and humanitarian issues on the agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">The session is being held amid sensitive regional and international developments that underscore the importance of strengthening dialogue and solidarity and intensifying efforts to de-escalate tensions and adopt diplomatic means to resolve disputes in a manner that contributes to supporting peace and creating a more stable environment for cooperation and development in the service of the peoples of the Islamic world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">The session will witness the transfer of the chairmanship of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers from the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye to the Republic of Iraq. This step will contribute to strengthening Iraq\u2019s role in multilateral diplomacy and enable it to play an active part in conducting the Council\u2019s proceedings and enhancing coordination with the Organisation\u2019s various bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Iraq welcomes the official delegations participating in the session and reaffirms its commitment to providing the appropriate conditions for the success of the meetings.
